The MSU Dino Dash

Some of you may know that over the summer, really since June, I have been running. Just running. I started up again in 2007 after Jack was born as I had put on something like 40 pounds of sympathy weight. I signed up for a Runners World online log and just started punching numbers. Ran very little in '07, more in '08 and then this year I have hit my stride, I guess, and ran quite a bit. Nothing major, unfortunately, one mile at a time, then 1.3, 1.6, 2.05, 2.3. Feeling like I should do something I finally signed up for the MSU Dino Dash. I really thought about it the last time I was in EL with JAck and we went to the Museum. I just felt like I should and I saw that there was a kids race that I could have Jack run. I signed up and Sunday 4 October was the race.

No party is complete without a whopping great giant inflatable T-Rex. The only thing better would have been a giant, inflatable Marc Bolan.
The Museum.
The tossing game.
Jack's running tag with his info on it.
Dad. He didn't run.
Me. I did run.
My #, pinned to the front of my shirt.
Jack eyeing the ladies.
I have to say, I look thin in this photo.
Como?
Where is he going?
Ahh, the action shot! I wish the pic was when I gave the guy the double finger what's up and smirked instead of this picture where I look like I am about to die.
Heading towards the finish line, trying to not look foolish. Too late.
You can see Mom in the green hoodie taking a pic. Seeing her and then looking down to see Jack was a great feeling. I felt bad as he wanted me to pick him up and all I wanted to do was finish the race. Maybe next time!
Here we are. I hadn't trimmed my beard and it looks HUGE

With Mom. The 'tasche does look a little like Rollie Fingers'
STAND BACK CLOWNS!

Getting ready for the kids's 200 yard Dino Sprint. I should have jogged it with him on my shoulders but I didn't think it was allowed.
STOLEN from the official website where you buy pics!
Actually out of sequence; I set Jack down shortly after Dad took this.

So now I just want to keep running as deep into the year as I can. I really wish I had never stopped running when Debbie and I started in 2003. That way I would have had six years of road underneath me. I did run into an old co-worker at the race who is 55. I suppose I could still have 20 years to keep running. Hope so.

  2. Get some Yak Traks and you can run in the winter too.

These are great pictures and it was a great day.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and am envious of your running prowess.
